Aqara Smart Radiator Thermostat W600
The Aqara W600 is the first "Spatial Intelligence" TRV, launched in late 2025 to bring Matter-over-Thread to European radiators. It features a unique dual-protocol chip, allowing it to work as a native Matter device (no hub required) or via Zigbee for advanced Aqara features. With a whisper-quiet motor (<30dB) and 2-year battery life, it’s designed for modern homeowners who want room-by-room heating that "just works."

Deep dive
The Scout’s Deep Dive: Silence and Speed
The W600 isn't just a minor refresh of the E1; it's a complete internal overhaul. In our testing, the biggest improvement is the motor. While older TRVs often wake light sleepers with a mechanical "grind" at 3 AM, the W600 is virtually silent.
Dual-Protocol Freedom: Thread or Zigbee?
The W600 is a rare beast that lets you choose your path:
- Thread Mode: Perfect for the "no-hub" dream. You can pair it directly to your Apple HomePod or Google Nest Hub via Matter.
- Zigbee Mode: Best for power users. Pairing it with the Aqara Hub M3 unlocks "Spatial Intelligence"—allowing the TRV to turn off heating the moment an Aqara presence sensor sees you’ve left the room.
Reversible LED & Multi-Valve Support
Whether your radiator valve points up, out, or sideways, the W600’s LED display can flip 180° to ensure the numbers are never upside down. It also ships with a massive array of adapters in the box (RA, RAV, RAVL, Caleffi, Giacomini, and M28), making it the most "renter-friendly" TRV we’ve scouted.
The External Sensor Hack
To get the best out of the W600, link it to an external Aqara W100 Climate Sensor. Because the TRV sits right next to the hot radiator, its built-in sensor can be inaccurate. By linking an external sensor, the W600 heats the room based on the temperature where you actually sit, not the temperature of the metal radiator.
